Meet Ashley

Ashley enjoys working with teens & adults- using a strengths-based approach, focusing on the skills and strengths each client possess to make progress towards goals for change. She utilizes components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and a variety of other evidence based modalities.

Because Ashley appreciates authenticity, she has made it a goal of the sessions that she offers. She wants clients seeking help from her to feel like she genuinely cares about them as an individual and the concerns they bring to the table. While she understands the seriousness of what clients are working on, she intends for clients to experience a relaxed vibe that includes opportunities to incorporate laughter into her therapy sessions.

She is a wife and mom of two. Ashley holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from High Point University in High Point, NC. She taught for 11 years, both elementary and middle grades, before making the move to counseling. Her counseling journey began at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, GO HEELS, and she currently work as a school counselor in addition to outpatient therapy work.

It is her belief that everyone needs a safe space to process the highs and lows of life's journey. In that space, she believes the client is the expert and is equipped with the strengths and skills to achieve positive change. Therapy should be a collaborative experience, where the client is equally part of exploring solutions. In establishing that therapeutic alliance, each client should be met where they are and with zero judgment. concerns including depression, anxiety, life stressors, LGBTQ issues, and medical issues/chronic illness. She also enjoys working with caregivers to help them feel confident parenting their unique and wonderful children!

The decision to begin therapy often comes with reluctance. Making the decision to begin therapy is a commitment to oneself that she seeks to honor. For this reason, it is important for sessions to provide a safe space of validation and positive regard for clients. It is also Ashley’s desire for clients to leave each session with a better understanding of the partnership for progress established in a therapeutic alliance.
