Meet Heather

Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA), School-Based and Outpatient Therapist, and Licensed North Carolina School Social Worker. She has a passion for helping people find their inner strengths, and digging deep to find what truly brings them joy and fulfillment. In her words, “we (especially children) live in a world full of social constructs, and expectations that prevent us from being who we truly are, thus inevitably waking up to realize what we thought was our path to joy is not. We are all much stronger than we realize, and the human experience is complex and ever-changing. We are not meant to do it alone, and I am happy to be the other human in my client(s) life journeys”.

About her approach:

All humans are different, thus is their journey to healing. My approaches to treatment are collaborative, client-centered, strength-based and tailored to each individual. Sessions (and sometimes modest out of session practice skills) focus on empowering clients not to fall victim to their triggers/emotions, learning/utilizing healthy and evidence-based coping skills based on their issue of priority, and building resilience by collaboratively discovering the client's vast, hidden strengths.

Clients can expect an authentic, warm and welcoming environment where they can feel free and comfortable to discuss, explore and address any and all of their issues and concerns. “Life is hard sometimes and there are many things out of our control, but in doing the work we find we can handle the hard, and love ourselves through it”. Her most passionate areas of focus are anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, self-esteem/self-confidence, stress management, behavioral issues, academic stressors, relationship stressors, codependency and emotion regulation.
